Environmental Implications for Public and Private Stakeholders
The Development Agency of one of the UK's largest regions needed to build consensus among its multiple public and private stakeholders on the environmental challenges ahead. The Outsights Future of the Environment multimedia presentation opened up the debate and injected ideas and information, following which Outsights facilitated the discussion and identification of potential actions by each stakeholder.
Challenging and Inspiring Key Employees
A blue chip media company straddling the new and old economies wanted to inspire its 100 “best and brightest”, and to challenge them to engage with their board on how the future might change the business. Outsights designed a two-day event that exposed the participants to a wide range of future trends, and stimulated them to articulate their own perceptions of the future and present plans to the board for action.
Bringing the Board “On Board”
A highly complex piece of research had to make an immediate impact on a group of senior directors. Outsights developed an innovative presentation to deliver high-level messages quickly without losing the complexity and richness of the research.
Steering the World Challenge
Outsights partner Richard O’Brien chaired the BBC World Challenge jury in 2005, which saw environment-friendly project Coconets from the Philippines win the $20,000 prize. The competition aims to reward enterprising grassroots innovators from around the world, and is the brainchild of BBC World TV and Newsweek in association with Shell.
The Economist/Shell Writing Prize
Outsights Partner Richard O’Brien has, for the past five years, chaired The Economist/Shell annual international writing prize. The competition has been incredibly successful, attracting over 5,000 entries in the first year alone and providing undiscovered writers with a valuable showcase for their talent. Winners are published in The Economist's annual review magazine and the top selection has been recorded on an audio CD by leading actors.
