the global economy in 2010

After years of boom the global economy is still struggling to re-establish stability and direction along three dimensions:

  • Re-stabilising sustainable and healthy growth;
  • Re-building confidence in the global and local financial systems; and,
  • Re-tuning the style of the global economic system after 20 years of intense reliance on the free market model.

Will the global economy emerging stronger from the crisis in 2010, will it once again lurch into crisis if lessons fail to be learnt, will the "fog" lift? Outsights Partner Richard O'Brien delivered his presentation on what the Global Economy may look like in 2010 at the Singapore Government's International Risk Assessment and Horizon Scanning (IRAHSS) Programme in March 2010. Using the Future Economy Scenarios developed with leading global economists and strategic thinkers, Richard also discussed possible tipping points in 2010 with his fellow panellists.
