Amajor American oil company needed to understand more about the Caspian regionin order to draw out principal strategic options for its products and services.

Future turmoil 

Outsights co-created Scenarios for the Future of the Caspian, over a four-month period, including interviews with key stakeholders, research provided by the company, and facilitated workshops to draw out key issues for the company. This enabled the diverse and global group to have a structured, strategic conversation on the future of the Caspian and attain crisp focus on possible strategies.

Facilitating strategic decision making 

The Scenarios focussed on the growing power of Russia and China; the opening up of Kuwait, Iran and Iraq to foreign oil companies; and early Caspian routes going through Russia causing unrest and turmoil. The group confirmed the strategies to be developed in the region against the Scenarios as well as actions for the export of product from the region. The Scenarios were then tested a year later to ensure they were robust and relevant to the company's strategy.
