A major Japanese auto manufacturer needed to understand how the future of Europe would impact on demand for specific car models.

 

Understanding foreign market issues 

The key issues facing the organisation included the relationship between the Euro, the Pound Sterling and the US dollar, the UK Government's decision with respect to entering the Eurozone and the economic outlook for Eastern European countries. Over two months, Outsights interviewed top names in the City of London and developed Scenarios for the Future of Europe with the board and senior management of the organisation.

 

Deciding upon an entry strategy 

The Scenarios for Europe provided underlying assumptions for the company's demand forecasting models, giving a strong link between the work of the Board, the planning department and the sales department (otherwise tending to work independently). Five economic tests were also developed to decide upon the best strategy and products for the European market as well as political and economic indicators to watch.
