A leading multinational energy shipping business needed to take stock of its strategy to deal with competing external factors: the growth of the gas industry, high profile participation in international projects and an increasingly diverse portfolio of customers across the globe. The particular challenges facing the senior team were adding clarity to the longer-term direction and purpose of the business, identifying priorities for the future, and improving engagement with staff and customers.

 

Outsights developed a collaborative process for the senior team to achieve these objectives. This included in depth interviews to draw out important issues and ideas from within the team; "opening up" of thinking based on the interview analysis in a workshop following the interviews and the fine-tuning of the strategy with quantitative research after important decisions were made about the longer-term focus and priorities for the business.  

 

The work help the business to prioritise and focus its efforts, enhanced the level of internal commitments and enthusiasm to the business and generated a clear set of messages with which to talk to key stakeholders.
