next revolution
The Brain Science Project will provide a bridge between the business and policy community, looking at how advances could affect work and society.
The project is a continuation of Outsights Next Revolutions Programme 2009 with Young Leaders and experts from across industry, government and the Third Sector who identified three potential revolutions shaping the future world:
- A new sense of identity: an ageing society becomes physically and cognitively enhanced;
- The decentralisation of production: advances in nanotech and biotech will lead consumers to become producers;
- Mass social action enabled by technology: the ability to connect will unleash centrifugal forces whilst also allowing small-scale movements to conjoin into mass movements.
From these three, "A new sense of identity" presented the greatest challenge. In 2010, Outsights will be taking one aspect of this Revolution forward - Brain Science - to explore more fully how it will affect our lives and work through research, interviews and events. The Project will focus on two areas in particular:
- Brain science, organisations and consumers
- Brain science and public issues
