Michael Prest

Michael Prest is an Associate Editor at breakingviews.com. After studying at the universities of Oxford, Manchester and London, and being awarded a PhD, Michael entered journalism. He was a senior financial and economic writer for, successively, the Middle East Economic Digest, The Times and The Independent (of London), which he helped to start. During his time in journalism, Michael covered financial markets, oil and natural resources, and economics and development. After spending six years in Washington DC as speechwriter to three successive presidents of the World Bank, Michael returned to London. He was then one of the founders of a financial public relations firm, which he left in 2005.
